Design Considerations
It would be natural to assume that the graphical design of a website would follow similar lines to that of a colour brochure or similar printed material, but the fact is that, although either medium may achieve similar purposes, there are very marked differences in design requirements.
In simple terms, once a glossy full-colour brochure is produced and distributed, the end result will, of course, look identical to all who view it.
Regrettably, the same cannot be said of a website. Monitor size and resolution, colour depth, colour balance, browser type and version, operating system and internet connection speed are just some of the factors which can greatly affect how a website will be seen by the end user.
However, this does not mean that, for
example, a normal corporate image (including logo) is unsuitable for use on the internet.
It is an essential part of the job of the website designer to use, and adapt if necessary, any existing
images which must be made to function satisfactorily within these restraints and considerations.
