Photography

On the face of it, putting a photograph on a website would appear to be a simple task. All that is necessary is for the original to be scanned or uploaded from a digital camera and then be saved in a suitable format for the web.

If only that was so!  Unfortunately, a photograph full of rich detail and subtle colours that might look stunning in a full A4 glossy colour brochure is not going to be suitable for use on a website as it will take far too long to download.

Therefore unless there is a very good reason for using a large image - and paying the penalty of waiting a long time - most photographs will be kept as small as possible.

Ideally, photography should be commissioned for a high quality website because the skilled web photographer will only produce shots that will translate well on to the internet. Careful selection and optimization of each image is then used to create the desired overall effect.
