Testing the Website

Before the website goes live, it must be thoroughly tested. There are two main components, functionality and browsers/monitors, in which the site must perform correctly

Functionality

However simple or complicated the site is, it must operate as designed and without error:

navigation - is the navigation system clear, always displayed and working correctly

graphics - do all design links actually function

links - when a link is activated, does it achieve the intended result

communication - when an on-line form is completed, eg. an e-mail form, is it sent and does it arrive at the client's e-mail address as it should

calculation - if a shopping form is included, are the correct items being added and the totals accurate

Browsers and Computers

To ensure that the maximum number of internet users are able to view the website, the site must be tested for compatibility with different computers, web browsers and monitor resolutions.

Before the site goes live, we will ensure that it performs satisfactorily for the following:

computers - PC or Macintosh computers

browsers - Microsoft Explorer and Netscape browsers

monitors - monitor resolutions of 640 x 480; 800 x 600 and
1024 x 768
